Madeline has finally broke her fever today! The antibiotic that we needed to give her caused a serious reaction that kept us up most of the night last night. She was itchy and and her face began to to swell. It was pretty scary. But the antibiotic knocked out the 103 degree fever that was lingering. She has also started to take some of her formula today and got some nutrition. We are limited to what we can do with Madeline due to her kidney disease she suffers from. There are many medications we have to avoid. So today has been a sleepy non active day and a recovery day after last night. We got visitors today from one of Madeline's very best friends! Brooke, her mom Emily and her brother Corey came also! They brought all kinds of goodies for Madeline. Thank you Yarish family!!

Madeline Earlier Today Before Fever

Today is day 6 of Madeline's hospital stay. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis with high liapase levels. Her levels are now back to normal but she is fighting off some left over pain from the pancreatitis. On top of that she has developed a 103 fever today that we are trying to manage. They have drawn blood and are doing a few cultures to figure out where the fever is coming from. Madeline, as always, continues to be positive and an amazing fighter. Children's provided a "Costume Shop" for kids to pick out a costume. Madeline has picked Bat Woman! Can't wait to see her dressed in it! I will post some pics soon. More health updates to come.

Visits

Madeline has improved a little today. Although she is dealing with some pain still...she seems to be a little more alert today.

All her blood work is still normal, we are just waiting until she doesn't need pain medication anymore.

Today we got visits from Mimi and Joanna!! What a great surprise!!

Madeline has no changes today. She is still in some pain and has her pain medication button...
She is tolerating some feeds which is really good!

We want to say thank you to Madeline's girl scout troop for the balloons and craft activities! They were great! Also, thank you to Liz and Eric for the flowers and visit, and to Bunny, Eric, Gage, and Josh for the flowers and card.

We have lots of love and support!

Here are some pictures of Madeline holding her card and playing with one of her craft activities.

We are on the right track with Madeline...her pancreas enzymes are back in the normal range. But even after that happens the pancreas hurts for a few days, so she still needs pain medication and fluids to get through this stage. She is getting morphine to deal with the pain.

Even through all this, she is showing a sense of humor...after pushing her button (which administers morphine), she held it up to her mouth and says, "Coming right up, Captain!"

As usual Madeline is showing us strength, courage, and is an inspiration to everyone. She is one tough cookie.

Here is a picture of Madeline visiting with a dog they bring by as a type of therapy for the kids.

Madeline admitted with Tummy pains

Madeline was admitted into Children's hospital Thursday with stomach pains. Her enzyme levels show she may be suffering from pancreatitis. All her other blood work looked normal for now. She is in good spirits as Maddie always is : )
We will continue to update her progress in the next coming days.

Madeline doing great!

Madeline has been doing very well lately!

She is getting two days a week of homebound school and is even making 100s on her spelling tests! She has a new teacher named Tonya that works hard to give Madeline a good education. We have great people in Madeline's life.

She is growing and gaining weight. Madeline continues to take epotin shots three times a week which she gives to herself. She also still takes internal and night feeding regularly to keep her health on track. At her most recent nephrology check up, we got the news that her kidneys are working around 39%...so we will need to continue to keep an eye of them and how they are functioning.

Madeline recently went to the Trophy Club Fire Station for a tour...here is a picture from that trip!!
